Definition

The Golden Jubilee Diamond is the largest cut and faceted diamond in the world, weighing 545.67 carats. It was discovered in the Premier Mine in South Africa in 1985 as a 755.5-carat rough stone and was cut by master cutter Gabi Tolkowsky, who also cut the Centenary Diamond, into a fire rose cushion cut that enhanced its warm brownish-yellow colour. The stone was given to the King of Thailand in 1997 to mark the golden jubilee of his reign, and it is now part of the Thai Crown Jewels.
