Custom Engagement Rings, Designed With You Online

Last updated 27 October 2026

Quick answer

I'm Brie, and I'll design your custom engagement ring with you around your stone, your metal and your budget, starting from one of our designs, a ring you found elsewhere or a blank page. You'll deal with me personally from your first message to the day your ring arrives, all online by video call, phone or email, and you'll approve a 3D render before our jewellers in Melbourne and Auckland make it. A complete ring with a 1 carat IGI lab-grown diamond starts at $2,950 in 18k gold.

What is a custom engagement ring at Lily Dia?

It's a ring I design with you around your stone, your metal and your budget. You can start from one of our 56 designs and change what you like, send me a photo of a ring you found elsewhere, or start from a blank page with a few saved pictures and a budget range.

You'll deal with me personally, from your first message to the day your ring arrives, and you won't be passed to a salesperson along the way. Nobody arrives knowing what they're doing, and you don't need to: most people start with a few photos and a sense of what their partner wears, and we work through the stone, the setting, the metal and the proportions together, one decision at a time.

Start from one of our designs

Each design opens in the ring builder with its setting price, and I can change any of them with you: the band width, the claws, a hidden halo, the metal or the stone.

Do I need to visit a showroom?

No. We work online and don't have a showroom, so every consultation with me happens by phone, email or a video call on whatever you use, whether that's Zoom, Google Meet or Teams. On a call I can show you stones and settings on camera, and before anything is made you'll see photos and video of your actual stone and a 3D render of your ring.

You approve the design and pay online, our jewellers in Melbourne and Auckland make it, and your ring comes to you tracked and insured, with free shipping anywhere in Australia. Because we don't operate from showrooms or have physical stores, we can offer a much lower price than you'll find at jewellers that do.

How does the custom process work?

In five steps, from our first conversation to your ring arriving at your door.

  2. 02

    Quote and deposit

    Before any design work

I'll quote the ring you've described. To start, pay a 50% deposit, or pay a $250 fee to go through to the CAD design stage first if you'd rather see the design before committing.

  3. 03

    3D design and changes

    Unlimited changes

I'll send you CAD renders of your ring from above, side-on and at three-quarter view, with the stone sizes, band width and metal listed, and we'll change the design as many times as it takes for you to love it.

  4. 04

    Making your ring

    Once you approve the design

Our jewellers in Melbourne and Auckland make your ring, with quality checks at each stage. If you started with the $250 fee, this is when the 50% payment is due.

How much does a custom engagement ring cost?

Settings start at $1,260 in 14k gold, a complete moissanite ring at $1,910, and a complete ring with a 1 carat IGI lab-grown diamond at $2,950 in 18k gold. Built in 14k gold on the ring builder, a 1 carat lab-grown ring starts at about $2,400.

When I quote a ring, the stone moves the price most, then the setting style, then the metal. Going from 14k to 18k gold adds $300 to a setting, and platinum adds $50 to $150 over 18k gold on a complete ring. A hidden halo adds $300 to any setting, a half pavé band $350 and double eagle-tip claws $100.

Prices in Australian dollars, checked on 27 October 2026. Our 1 carat price guide and moissanite cost guide show what each size costs.

Does a custom ring cost more than one of your designs?

No. A custom ring often costs about the same as one of our designs, and it can come in lower or higher depending on what you want in it, from the stone and the metal to the setting details. It's often less than people expect, and I'll quote your ring before you commit to anything.

How do the deposit and payments work?

Pay a 50% deposit to start your order, or a $250 fee to go through to the CAD design stage first, then 50% once you approve the design. The balance is due before your ring ships. We take Visa, Mastercard, Shop Pay and bank transfer, and we do not offer Afterpay, Zip, Klarna or layby.

The $250 fee is not refunded if you decide not to go ahead after the CAD design stage.

Which stones can I choose?

Any IGI-graded lab-grown diamond on our ring builder, all D to F colour and VS1 clarity or better, a GIA-graded diamond on request, moissanite chosen by its size in millimetres, or a stone you already own. Every lab-grown diamond comes with its IGI report and a 360 degree video of the actual stone, so you see what you are choosing before you choose it.

If you are deciding between the two, our moissanite vs diamond guide compares them side by side.

Can you use my own stone or reset an heirloom?

Yes. We set stones bought from another seller and stones from family rings. Send me the grading report, or photos if there isn't one, and I'll look at the stone before I promise a design, because a worn or fragile stone is sometimes better left in its original setting.

Photograph the old ring before any work starts and tell me which parts matter most to keep. Once the new ring is finished, update your valuation and insurance. Our guides to choosing your own lab-grown diamond, resetting a ring and insuring an engagement ring cover each step.

What will I see before you make it?

You'll see 3D CAD renders of your ring from above, side-on and at three-quarter view, with the stone sizes, band width and metal listed beside them, and photos and video of your actual stone. Change anything you like, from the stone size to the claws or the band, as many times as it takes.

Before you approve the design

  • Look at the rings together from several directions, then at each one alone, so an overlapping band does not hide a detail.
  • Check the stone dimensions, ring size, band width and thickness, and the metal in writing, and ask me if any stone shown is still a placeholder.
  • Tell me if you plan to wear the rings together, and I'll check where the bands or settings touch.

Our guide to reading your ring CAD explains each view and how to send your changes.

Custom, a fixed-price ring or the ring builder: which suits you?

What happens after delivery?

Every ring has a lifetime manufacturing warranty for as long as you own it, covering defects such as faulty settings and metal finishes. Normal wear, accidental damage and loss are not covered, so we recommend insuring it. Our delivery and warranty policy has the details.

When the time comes, I can design a wedding band to sit with it.

Frequently asked questions

Who will I be dealing with?
Me, Brie. I'm the one you'll deal with from your first message to the day your ring arrives, and our jewellers in Melbourne and Auckland make it.
Do I need to visit a showroom?
No. We work online and don't have a showroom, so every consultation with me is by video call, phone or email, and your finished ring is sent to you tracked and insured, with free shipping anywhere in Australia. Because we don't have showrooms or physical stores, our prices are much lower than at jewellers that do.

A 50% deposit starts your order. If you would rather see the design first, a $250 fee takes you through to the CAD design stage, then you pay 50% once you approve the design. The balance is due before your ring ships.
Can I choose a GIA-graded diamond?
Yes. Every lab-grown diamond on our ring builder is IGI graded, D to F colour and VS1 clarity or better, and I can source a GIA-graded diamond for your ring on request.
Can I use a diamond I already have?
Yes. We set stones bought from another seller and stones from family rings. Send me the grading report, or photos if there isn't one, and I'll look at the stone before I promise a design.
Can I see the ring before it is made?
Yes. You'll see 3D CAD renders of your ring from several angles, with the stone sizes, band width and metal listed, plus photos and video of your actual stone. Our jewellers only start making it once you approve the design.
Can I design a ring with you if I do not live in Melbourne?
Yes. Every consultation with me is online, so I can design your ring with you wherever you live, in Australia or overseas. Shipping is free anywhere in Australia, and every ring goes out tracked and insured.
What is the difference between a custom and a made-to-order ring?
Every ring we make is made to order: we only make it once you have approved the design. Custom means the design itself changes for you, from a wider band on one of our designs to a ring drawn from a blank page.
