DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RINGS, MADE IN AUSTRALIA
Looking for diamond engagement rings in Australia? We design and craft every ring in our Melbourne studio using lab-grown diamonds, which are chemically and optically identical to mined diamonds at a fraction of the price.
Every diamond engagement ring is built to your specification, from a brilliant round solitaire to an elongated oval halo. Choose your shape, setting, and metal, then we match your ring with a hand-selected lab-grown diamond graded by IGI.
- Real diamond credentials: Same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), same fire and brilliance, same chemical structure as mined diamonds. Read the science.
- Australia-wide delivery: Free express shipping anywhere in Australia, fully insured.
- Prefer moissanite? Compare with our moissanite engagement rings if visible fire and value matter more than the diamond label.
HOW MUCH DO ENGAGEMENT RINGS COST IN AUSTRALIA?
There is no single right budget for an engagement ring in Australia. What you spend depends on the centre stone, the metal, and how custom the design is. As a guide from our Melbourne design studio:
- Lab-grown diamond engagement rings: Most sit between $2,500 and $8,000 AUD. A round or oval lab-grown diamond solitaire in 18k gold typically lands in the lower half of that range.
- Moissanite engagement rings: Usually start around $1,500 AUD and stay under $4,000 AUD even with custom detailing.
- What changes the price: Carat weight, diamond quality, metal choice, and whether the design has side stones, a hidden halo, or a more complex band.
You do not need to follow the "three months' salary" rule. We have built rings across every budget band and the best result is always when the design fits your priorities, not a benchmark from another era.
HOW TO START DESIGNING YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING
Most couples come to us with a Pinterest board and a rough direction. That is enough. Designing your engagement ring is usually four decisions, made in this order:
- Choose the shape. Round and oval are the two most-requested AU shapes. Emerald, cushion, pear, and marquise all have their moment. The shape sets the personality. Start with round, oval, or emerald to see how each one sits on the hand.
- Choose the stone type. Lab-grown diamond or moissanite. Compare them in our moissanite vs diamond guide, and read about lab-grown diamond value before deciding.
- Choose the setting. Solitaire, halo, three-stone, bezel, or hidden halo. The setting affects how the stone sits, how protected it is, and how it pairs with a future wedding band.
- Choose the metal. Yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, or platinum. We work in recycled gold and platinum across the studio.
From there we either match you with a stone we already have on hand or source one to your spec. If you want to walk through the whole flow with us, start with design your own engagement ring or book a free video consultation.
LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS OR MOISSANITE: WHICH IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
The two centre stones we work with at Lily Dia are lab-grown diamonds and moissanite. Both are excellent for daily wear, but they answer different priorities.
- Choose lab-grown diamond if: You want a true diamond with the same chemical structure, hardness, and look as a mined diamond. Lab-grown diamonds are IGI-certified and graded on the 4Cs the same way mined diamonds are. Compare options in our lab-grown diamond engagement ring collection.
- Choose moissanite if: Visible fire, value, and getting a larger-looking stone for the budget matter more to you than the diamond label. Browse our moissanite engagement ring collection.
- Still comparing: Read the full lab-grown diamond vs moissanite comparison for a side-by-side on sparkle, durability, and price.
RING SIZE, AND HOW TO PROPOSE WITHOUT GIVING IT AWAY
If you are planning a surprise proposal, the most common worry is the ring size. The good news is you have options.
- Borrow a ring she already wears. Take one off her jewellery box (one that fits her ring finger) and either trace the inside on paper or press it into a bar of soap. You can send us a photo of the trace and we will read the size from it. Our how to measure ring size guide walks through each method.
- Use the Australian ring size chart. Australian ring sizes use letters (K, L, M, N, and so on) and convert cleanly to US numerical sizes. Our AU ring size chart covers the full conversion.
- If you cannot get a read: Pick a likely size and we will resize the ring for free within the first six months. Many of our customers propose with a placeholder ring and design the final piece with their partner afterwards.
Whichever way you go, we keep the conversation private, and we can ship the ring anywhere in Australia in time for the proposal date.
DESIGNED IN MELBOURNE, SHIPPED AUSTRALIA-WIDE
Lily Dia is an online studio. We design every engagement ring from our Melbourne workshop and ship Australia-wide. There is no showroom and no retail floor, which is part of why our pricing sits where it does.
- Online by design: The entire design conversation runs over video calls, sketches, and 3D renders. You see your ring before it is made, and we refine the brief together remotely. Book a free video consultation to start.
- Anywhere in Australia: We work with customers in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Gold Coast, and Hobart. Free insured Australia-wide shipping on every finished ring.
- Custom from the start: Every ring is made to order, not pulled off a shelf. Read the custom design process guide for how the build works end to end.
