Do lab diamonds get scratched easily?

THE ANSWER

No. Lab diamonds are the hardest material you can wear. A 10 on the Mohs scale. Only another diamond can scratch a diamond. Your kitchen bench, car keys, gym equipment, and office desk cannot scratch it. The stone is practically indestructible in daily life. What does happen is the metal around the stone gets scratched. Gold and platinum pick up surface marks over time. That is normal wear. The diamond stays perfect. If your lab diamond looks dull, it is dirty, not scratched. Clean it and the brilliance returns. You would need deliberate diamond-on-diamond contact to create a scratch.
