An enhancer is a hinged bail or loop fitting attached to a pendant or charm that opens and closes to allow the piece to be added to or removed from a chain without taking the chain off or unthreading it. The hinge mechanism, usually a small spring or push-release clip, means you can switch pendants on a single chain quickly, which makes enhancers popular on pearl strands, tennis bracelets worn as necklaces, and charm designs. They combine the function of a bail with the convenience of a clasp.
