A half bezel, also called a partial bezel, holds a gemstone with metal rims over two opposing sides while leaving the other edges open. A full bezel surrounds the whole stone. The partial design shows more of the gem and creates a lighter profile, but it protects less of the edge than a complete rim. Security depends on sound construction and a close fit between the metal and the stone.
