A 2 carat lab-grown cushion cut diamond costs about $2,310 to $4,210 as a loose stone in Australia, with a median of $2,616. That is the middle 80% of the 51 cushion cuts between 2.00 and 2.09 carats on our live feed on 17 September 2026. Every stone is D to F colour, VS1 clarity or better, and IGI certified.

Set in a finished engagement ring, a 2 carat cushion costs $4,350 to $5,350 in 18k gold, or $4,400 to $5,500 in platinum. Those are the fixed prices of our five complete 2 carat cushion rings, each made with a 2.00 to 2.09ct, E to F colour, VVS1 clarity centre stone.

Cushions break the usual pattern. The stones just under 2 carats were more expensive, with a median of $2,774 against $2,616 at 2 carats, and price per carat was lowest in the 2.00 to 2.09ct group at $1,275. Above 2.20 carats, medians jumped past $4,000. For a cushion, an exact 2 carat stone is the sweet spot rather than something to avoid.

Cushion cuts come in two outlines, and the feed was split almost evenly between them. The typical size in the table above averages both, so here they are separately at 2.00 to 2.09ct:

An elongated cushion costs slightly less at the median and looks longer on the finger. A square cushion looks softer and more traditional. Within the elongated group, stones around a ratio of 1.25 had the lowest median at $2,381, while the squarest stones at 1.00 were among the highest at $3,306.

The three clarity grades sat within about $230 of each other at the median. A cushion's larger facets show inclusions a little more than a round, so VVS2 is a comfortable middle choice. Colour was unusual: D colour had the lowest median at $2,570, against $2,610 for F and $2,799 for E, so there is no reason to settle below D on a cushion if you want the whitest stone.

No. At VS1 and VVS1 the stones just under 2 carats cost more than the 2 carat stones, and only at VVS2 were they about $120 cheaper. The under 2 carat rows hold only five or six stones each, so read single figures with care, but the direction is consistent.
