How much is a 2 carat pear shaped lab-grown diamond?
A 2 carat pear shaped lab-grown diamond costs about $2,450 to $3,550 as a loose stone in Australia, with a median of $2,623. That is the middle 80% of the 42 pear shapes between 2.00 and 2.09 carats on our live feed on 17 September 2026. The full range runs from $2,253 to $5,063, and every stone is D to F colour, VS1 clarity or better, and IGI certified.
Set in a finished engagement ring, a 2 carat pear costs $5,000 to $5,800 in 18k gold, or $5,050 to $5,950 in platinum. Those are the fixed prices of our seven complete 2 carat pear rings, each made with a 2.00 to 2.09ct, E to F colour, VVS1 clarity centre stone.

10 stones listed at more than twice the median for their group are left out of the price ranges, because they are priced far above stones of the same weight and grade.
A 2 carat pear is about 11.4mm long and 7.0mm wide. The group just under 2 carats is unusually strong for pears: 44 stones between 1.90 and 1.99ct, nearly half of them at exactly 1.97ct, with a median of $2,467 and a tight top price of $3,195. That is about $155 below the 2 carat median, with the widest choice of any weight.
Is it worth going just under 2 carats on a pear?
It depends on the clarity you want:
| Carat weight | VS1 median | VVS2 median | VVS1 median |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.90 to 1.99ct | $2,366 (14 stones) | $2,448 (23 stones) | $2,790 (7 stones) |
| 2.00 to 2.09ct | $2,499 (11 stones) | $2,535 (10 stones) | $3,191 (21 stones) |
| 2.10 to 2.19ct | $2,525 (5 stones) | None listed | $3,272 (2 stones) |
| 2.20 to 2.29ct | $2,828 (4 stones) | $2,604 (12 stones) | $3,110 (6 stones) |
| 2.30 to 2.49ct | $2,828 (16 stones) | $2,819 (9 stones) | $4,058 (19 stones) |
At VS1 and VVS2, the 2 carat stones cost only about $90 to $130 more than those just below. At VVS1 the gap was about $400, or 14%. So if you want a VVS1 pear, a 1.97ct stone is a genuine saving and gives up about 0.4mm of length. At the lower clarity grades, you may as well have the full 2 carats.
How clarity and colour change a pear's price
| Clarity at 2.00 to 2.09ct | Stones | Price range | Median price |
|---|---|---|---|
| VS1 | 11 | $2,455 to $2,803 | $2,499 |
| VVS2 | 10 | $2,422 to $2,904 | $2,535 |
| VVS1 | 21 | $2,253 to $5,063 | $3,191 |
VS1 and VVS2 pears priced almost the same, and VVS1 added about $650 at the median. A pear is a brilliant cut, so small inclusions are well hidden and VS1 usually looks clean. The one place to be careful is the point, where an inclusion near the tip can weaken the stone, so ask where any inclusions sit.
Colour ran against the grades: F colour pears had the lowest median at $2,507, then E at $2,745 and D at $2,898. The narrow point of a pear can hold a little more colour than the rounded end, but at D to F colour it stays white, so F is the value choice.
Which pear outline costs the least?
Most 2 carat pears on the feed had a length to width ratio between 1.55 and 1.70. The more compact stones around 1.55 had the lowest median at $2,499, and the slimmer stones around 1.70 were close behind at $2,559. The ratios in between, around 1.60 to 1.65, were about $250 more. The difference is modest, so choose the outline that suits the hand, then compare prices within it.
