Is a 1.8 mm band too thin?

THE ANSWER

No. For most people, 1.8 mm is the sweet spot. It is thin enough to look delicate and modern. It makes the centre stone stand out. But it is thick enough to hold up to daily wear. Most quality jewellers will not go thinner than 1.8 mm for an engagement ring meant to be worn every day. The band has enough metal to maintain its shape over years. It resists bending better than 1.5 mm. It can comfortably hold prongs and small accent stones. If you want a slim, elegant look without worrying about durability, 1.8 mm is the right call.
