Hearts and arrows are optical patterns visible in some precisely proportioned, highly symmetrical round brilliant diamonds when viewed through a special reflector. Arrows appear from the crown and heart shapes appear from the pavilion. The pattern is evidence of consistent facet alignment, but the phrase is not a universal laboratory grade and does not by itself guarantee that every aspect of cut, light return or beauty is ideal.
