How much does a 2 carat lab-grown marquise diamond cost?

A 2 carat lab-grown marquise diamond costs about $2,260 to $5,130 as a loose stone in Australia, with a median of $2,810. That is the middle 80% of the 49 marquise stones between 2.00 and 2.09 carats on our live feed on 17 September 2026. It is a wider spread than any other shape at this weight, and the reasons behind it are the most useful thing to understand before you buy.

Set in a finished engagement ring, a 2 carat marquise costs $5,350 to $5,950 in 18k gold, or $5,400 to $6,100 in platinum. Those are the fixed prices of our five complete 2 carat marquise rings, each made with a 2.00 to 2.09ct, E to F colour, VVS1 clarity centre stone.

14 stones listed at more than twice the median for their group are left out of the price ranges, because they are priced far above stones of the same weight and grade.

A 2 carat marquise is about 13mm long and 6.6mm wide, the longest outline of any shape at this weight, so it looks the biggest on the hand. Carat weight barely moved the median from 1.90 to 2.09ct. The heavier stones between 2.10 and 2.29ct were cheaper still, at $2,565 and $2,696, and prices only jumped past 2.30 carats.

Why 2 carat marquise prices vary so much

Two things drive most of the spread: top clarity and top colour.

Clarity at 2.00 to 2.09ctStonesPrice rangeMedian price
VS118$2,224 to $4,069$2,734
VVS215$2,220 to $4,625$2,452
VVS116$2,325 to $5,420$4,213

3 stones listed at more than twice the median for their group are left out of the price ranges, because they are priced far above stones of the same weight and grade.

VVS1 marquise stones had a median of $4,213, around $1,500 more than VS1 and $1,760 more than VVS2. Colour did the same: D colour stones had a median of $4,116, against $2,326 for E and $2,850 for F. On many other shapes those grades add a few hundred dollars. On marquise they can add more than half again.

So the cheapest way to a beautiful 2 carat marquise is VVS2 or VS1 in E or F colour. A marquise concentrates sparkle towards its two points, and at those grades it looks clean and white to the eye.

Does an exact 2 carat marquise cost more?

Not at the grades most people buy:

Carat weightVS1 medianVVS2 medianVVS1 median
1.90 to 1.99ct$2,750 (9 stones)$2,793 (9 stones)$4,740 (10 stones)
2.00 to 2.09ct$2,734 (18 stones)$2,452 (15 stones)$4,213 (16 stones)
2.10 to 2.19ctNone listed$5,204 (2 stones)$2,565 (2 stones)
2.20 to 2.29ct$2,914 (4 stones)$3,340 (4 stones)$2,696 (4 stones)
2.30 to 2.49ct$4,047 (11 stones)$3,557 (13 stones)$4,776 (9 stones)

At VS1, stones just under and just over 2 carats cost the same, and at VVS2 the 2 carat group was cheaper. Some rows only have two to four stones, so treat single figures loosely, but the pattern is consistent: for a marquise, carat weight is the least important lever.

Does the length to width ratio change the price?

It changes the look more than the price. Most 2 carat marquise stones sat between a ratio of 1.90 and 2.10, the classic slim outline. The stones around 2.00 to 2.05 had the lowest medians, at $2,309 to $2,386, while the group around 2.10 had a much higher median of $4,172, because several of those stones were also VVS1 or D colour. Choose the outline you like first, then use clarity and colour to set the price.

How much is a complete 2 carat marquise engagement ring?

Every ring below comes with a 2.00 to 2.09ct, E to F colour, VVS1 clarity, IGI certified marquise, set on a 2mm band in solid 18k gold or platinum. The price includes the diamond and the setting:

RingStyle18k goldPlatinum
MargotSolitaire$5,350$5,400
GigiBezel solitaire$5,700$5,850
TaylorSolitaire with a hidden halo$5,800$5,950
SophieSolitaire with a 3/4 pavé band$5,900$6,050
ZiphoraHalo$5,950$6,100

At that stone grade, a loose 2 carat marquise runs $2,325 to $5,420 on its own, with a median of $3,282, the highest of any 2 carat shape we stock. That helps explain why our marquise rings start higher than the other shapes, at $5,350 for the solitaire. A marquise also needs protected claws at both points, because the tips are the part most likely to chip.

If you are happy with VVS2 or VS1, which is where the saving is on a marquise, choose your own stone in our ring builder and pair it with a setting.

The bottom line on 2 carat marquise prices

As of 17 September 2026, most 2 carat lab-grown marquise diamonds cost $2,260 to $5,130 loose, and a complete 2 carat marquise engagement ring costs $5,350 to $6,100. Skip D colour and VVS1 unless you want them for their own sake, because on a marquise they cost far more than they show. Browse our 2 carat engagement rings for live prices.
