How Much Is a 2 Carat Princess Cut Lab Grown Diamond?

A 2 carat princess cut lab-grown diamond costs about $2,310 to $5,070 as a loose stone in Australia, with a median of $2,774. That is the middle 80% of the 48 princess cuts between 2.00 and 2.09 carats on our live feed on 17 September 2026, and every stone is D to F colour, VS1 clarity or better, and IGI certified. A few stones listed above $11,000 stretch the top of the full range to $11,778, so the middle 80% is the better guide.

Set in a finished engagement ring, a 2 carat princess cut costs $4,650 to $5,050 in 18k gold, or $4,700 to $5,200 in platinum. Those are the fixed prices of our three complete 2 carat princess rings, each made with a 2.00 to 2.09ct, E to F colour, VVS1 clarity centre stone.

Princess cuts give you room to move on carat weight in both directions. Dropping just under 2 carats saved about $265 at the median. Going up worked too: the 51 princess cuts between 2.30 and 2.49ct had a median of $2,783, almost the same as the exact 2 carat group, for a stone about 0.4mm wider on each side. The 2.20 to 2.29ct group had a higher median, pulled up by eight D colour VVS1 stones and two listed above $13,000, so it is the step to skip.

At VS1, the round-number premium was the biggest of any 2 carat shape on our feed: 2.00 to 2.09ct stones had a median $535 higher than those just under 2 carats, about 23% more. At VVS1 the gap was 13%. At VVS2 there was no premium at all, with the 2 carat stones slightly cheaper. So a VVS2 princess at 2 carats, or a VS1 just under, are the two value choices.

VVS2 was the cheapest clarity grade at a median of $2,428. VS1 still had a higher median, $2,859, even though its three most expensive stones are left out of the range shown. A princess cut is a brilliant style, so VS1 and VVS2 both look clean to the eye. Colour was similar: E colour had the lowest median at $2,538, then D at $2,711, while F was highest at $3,154.

Most 2 carat princess cuts on the feed were almost perfectly square, with length to width ratios of 1.00 to 1.05 and medians within $40 of each other, so outline is not a price lever on this shape.

Smaller than most shapes at the same weight. A 2 carat princess cut measures about 6.9mm by 6.8mm, around 47 square millimetres from above, against about 53 for a 2 carat round. A princess carries more of its weight in depth, which gives it a crisp, bright look but less spread across the finger. If face-up size matters most to you, the 2.30 to 2.49ct stones at a similar price close most of that gap.

The corners are the other thing to plan for. They are the thinnest part of the stone and the most likely to chip, so a princess cut should always be set with claws covering each corner.
